My Story

On July 6, 2018, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and successfully underwent treatment to become a survivor.  I was treated at the UHN by some of North America’s most skilled oncologists and some of the most compassionate, kind and supportive staff I had ever met.  Being on the other side of health care as a patient and receiving the incredible care that I did inspired me to pay this philosophy forward in my own private practice.

Park Lane Dental Care opens its doors to patients in all phases of cancer care and offers a warm and empathetic staff to receive and care for you during this tender time on a priority basis.

YOUR ORAL HEALTH AND CANCER

Cancer treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy can have detrimental effects on your oral health.  It is imperative that once diagnosed, you see your dentist immediately for a dental exam and cleaning and to have any and all outstanding dental treatment completed.  If there are any existing cavities or oral infections in the mouth prior to cancer treatments they must be eliminated as they can worsen and lead to serious oral health complications.  Chemotherapy and Radiation have immunosuppressive effects on the body that compromise the oral cavity. Many medications administered for cancer treatments also affect salivary gland secretions which can further deteriorate hard and soft tissues in the mouth.

It is important to maintain a regular relationship with your dentist during and after the completion of your cancer care treatments.

For your convenience and ease of access, Park Lane Dental Care is located within walking distance of downtown Toronto’s premier cancer care treatment centers.
